Waiting For Alice
The stage is littered with gleaming teacups, sat around
a table are familiar figures in rusting top hats and cobwebbed jackets. They sit. Tea is poured. They drink. They wait. Tea is poured. Words are written. They sip. They wait. Where and what is Alice? Did you remember the Mock Turtle? And why is a raven like a writing-desk?
The action is accompanied by brand new music, composed and performed by David Ridley. Thus, Waiting for Alice becomes a truly sensory experience as the audience listen to the music of Wonderland, taste the same drinks as the characters and watch the fated events unfold.
Returning from a sell-out run at the Pleasance Courtyard at the Edinburgh Fringe, Waiting for Alice is an explosive piece of new-writing that explores the imaginings of Lewis Carroll’s mind, the creative development of the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party and the reason why Alice is ‘the dullest girl in the world’…
